Question
How many times is the word An-Naar (Hellfire) mentioned in the Quran? Please mention the chapters and verses in which it is mentioned.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
The word An-Naar is mentioned in the Quran 145 times, in many chapters. For example, it is mentioned 14 times in chapter Al-Baqarah (2nd chapter of Quran) and 11 times in chapter Aal Imraan (3rd chapter of Quran). Listing all the chapters in which it is mentioned is a lengthy process.
There are other names for Hell such as Jahannam, Saqar, Sa‘eer, Latha and Al-Haawiyah.
