Ruling on finding a person's voice funny when reading the Quran

Question:

As-salaamu 3laikum. Sometimes a person's voice may sound strange because some gas comes through his throat while he is speaking, or because there is a lot of saliva in his mouth or something similar, and some people find that funny. But what is the ruling if this happens while the person is doing dhikr or reciting the Qur'an, and the people still find it funny? I mean they find what happens to his voice funny, not the words he is saying. Jazaakum Allah khair.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

If you are asking whether this act implies mocking Allaah and His Signs, then the answer is no. The reason for laughing is known and it has nothing to do with it (mockery), but it is due to a certain action from a person, and this occurs by him regardless of the content of what he is saying.

However, it is not permissible at all to mock him. Allaah says (what means): {O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent – then it is those who are the wrongdoers.}[Quran 49:11]

Finally, we warn you against Waswaas (obsessive whispers) as it is the most evil sickness.
