Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood, may Allah be pleased with him:
'Ali ibn Burhaan Ad-Deen Al-Halabi 
said that Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood, may Allah be pleased with him, was known by the name of his mother Umm 'Abd (he was called the son of Umm 'Abd). He used to visit the Prophet, 
, frequently, and he used to walk with and in front of him. He also used to screen the Prophet, , while he performed ablution. Moreover, he used to wake him up when he slept; helped him wear his shoes when he wanted to move and carried the shoes in his arms when he sat down. For all this, Ibn Mas'ood, may Allah be pleased with him, was well-known among the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, as the one who was entrusted with the secrets of the Prophet, .

For all this, Ibn Mas'ood, may Allah be pleased with him, was well-known among the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, as the one who was entrusted with the secrets of the Prophet, .Mu'aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan, may Allah be pleased with him:
He is Mu'aawiyah ibn Sakhr ibn Harb ibn Umayyah ibn 'Abd Shams ibn 'Abd Manaaf Al-Qurashi Al-Umawi, and his nickname is Abu 'Abdur-Rahmaan. He and his father, mother and brother embraced Islam on the day of the conquest of Makkah. He witnessed with the Prophet, , the Battle of Hunayn, and he, , gave him a hundred camels and forty ounces of gold from the booty of Hawazin.
Mu'aawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, went to fight in Ash-Shaam when Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, dispatched his army there under the leadership of Yazeed, the brother of Mu'aawiyah. After the death of Yazeed, Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, appointed him as a ruler over Ash-Shaam. Al-Hasan ibn 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, gave up the Caliphate in favor of Mu'aawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, which was a post that he occupied for almost twenty years. He died in 60 A.H. at the age of 78, or 86 according to some other opinions.

Ibn 'Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet, said: "For every prophet, there is a secret keeper, and my secret keeper is Mu'aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan." [Al-Mallaa']
said: "For every prophet, there is a secret keeper, and my secret keeper is Mu'aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan." [Al-Mallaa']Huthayfah ibn Al-Yamaan, may Allah be pleased with him:
Huthayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Prophet, dismounted from his riding camel one day, and the revelation came to him while his camel was kneeling down. He said, "After a moment, it stood up and began to move, pulling its rein. So, I immediately caught its rein and took it nearer to the Prophet then I made it kneel down again and I sat beside it until the Prophet finished with the revelation. When I brought it to him, he asked: "Who is this?""Huthayfah," I replied.

When I brought it to him, he asked: "Who is this?""Huthayfah," I replied.Then he said to me: "I am going to tell you a secret, but do not reveal it to anybody. I have been forbidden to pray (the funeral prayer) over so and so"and he named for me a group from the hypocrites."
Huthayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, remained faithful to the pledge of secrecy that he gave to the Prophet, , even after his death. Only 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was able to find out indirectly who the hypocrites were during his Caliphate by closely observing Huthayfah's reactions. When a man from those who were suspected of being hypocrites died, 'Umar used to take the hand of Huthayfah, may Allah be pleased with them both, and lead him to pray. If Huthayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, went with him without hesitation, he prayed over him, and if he withdrew his hand out of his, he refrained from praying the funeral prayer over that person.
, even after his death. Only 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was able to find out indirectly who the hypocrites were during his Caliphate by closely observing Huthayfah's reactions. When a man from those who were suspected of being hypocrites died, 'Umar used to take the hand of Huthayfah, may Allah be pleased with them both, and lead him to pray. If Huthayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, went with him without hesitation, he prayed over him, and if he withdrew his hand out of his, he refrained from praying the funeral prayer over that person.
