Usaamah ibn Zayd ibn Haarithah Al-Kalbi, may Allah be pleased with him:
He and both his parents were freed slaves of the Prophet, , and he was the Prophet's beloved and the son of his beloved. He was raised under the guardianship of the Prophet, , and he was very active, smart and courageous. Usaamah, may Allah be pleased with him, wanted to participate in the Battle of Uhud, but the Prophet, , did not allow him to, on the grounds that he was too young to go to war. He was extremely intelligent and very brave to the extent that the Prophet, , would later appoint him as the commander of the army that was directed to Shaam when he was only 18 years old. Some of the leading Companions were present in this army under his leadership, such as ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, may Allah be pleased with him, the second Caliph in Islam. Usaamah, may Alllaah be pleased with him, died in 54 A.H., according to the most correct opinion.

Thawbaan ibn Bujdud (or ibn Buhdur), may Allah be pleased with him:
He is from As-Sarah, a place between Makkah and Yemen, though some other historians were of the view that he is from Himyar, or from Alhaan. He was captured in a war, and the Prophet, , bought him and emancipated him. After he was set free, the Prophet, , asked him to choose between going with his people, or staying with him, , and being a member of his household. He chose to stay with the Prophet, , and loyally accompanied and served him through all his travels and encampments, until he, , died. Once, Hunayn, may Allah be pleased with him, reserved the water of the Prophet's ablution for himself. The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, complained about this to the Prophet, . When the Prophet, , asked him about that, he said, "Verily, I have kept it to drink it."
