Prevented from praying inside mosque

Sitting in outer courtyard of Al-Masjid Al-Haraam while menstruating
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. Shaykh, there is an outer courtyard of Al-Masjid Al-Haraam where worshippers pray, and at times guards stop people from entering the Masjid, so then more worshippers pray there. Praying in masjid that has shrine behind it

I‘tikaf of one who goes to work and goes home to bathe
My husband wants to observe i‘tikaf (ritual seclusion in the mosque) in Ramadan, Allah Almighty, willing. He will observe it in a masjid near our house. Announcing person's death through masjid's loudspeakers

Is it permissible to intend observing i‘tikaaf for as long as the person is going to stay in the mosque, no matter how short?
Is it permissible to make the intention for i‘tikaaf (spiritual retreat) in the mosque even before actually starting it and to express this by saying, “I intend to observe i‘tikaaf as long as I am staying in the mosque?” I heard the imam say this on some occasion.

One is allowed to talk to his family on the phone during i‘tikaaf
Is it permissible for a Muslim who is observing i‘tikaaf (spiritual retreat) in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan to talk on the phone with his family to check upon them? He would only do this a few times throughout the entire period of his i’tikaaf. Also, he would talk to them in the washing area, not inside the mosque.
