Uncovering the face when burying the dead: is it from the Sunnah?

Should it be announced before the Janaazah (i.e. funeral prayer) that the deceased is male or female?

Please help us regarding a case when some inheritors settled the debt of the deceased from their private wealth and, thereafter, it was discovered that the deceased had wealth of his own.
