Question
Dear Brother in Islam, Assalamu alaikum (war). I am working in Dubai for the past five years. Initially I came here because of the burden of Debts. Also I am planning to go back to India after One year Insha ALLAH. My wife with my three kids used to stay with my mother in-law ( her mother), but because of some differences with her family members, my wife decided to stay alone in my newly built house. Pls. advice me Whether it is allowed in Islam to allow my wife to stay alone ( near her mothers house) with my three kids ?. My eldest son age is 9 years. Also before I finish my job in Dubai I plan to take her to HAJJ this year (2009). In case if it is not allowed to stay alone ; Is it permissible to stay to earn for HAJJ ?. Pls. reply at the earliest. May ALLAH reward you. Salam.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
It is permissible for you to allow your wife to reside in that house if she is safe about her own self and her children. Also, it is permissible for you to continue residing in that country whether in order to earn for Hajj or for something else. However, you should know that it is not permissible for a husband to be deliberately and willingly absent from his wife more than six months without her permission.
