Is the place of Sa‘y considered part of the Holy Mosque? Can a woman who is menstruating go to it? If someone enters the Holy Mosque from the place of Sa‘y, should he offer the prayer of greeting the mosque?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said: "It appears that the place of Sa‘y is not part of the mosque and this is why they made a separating wall between them, but this wall is short. Undoubtedly, this is a good measure, otherwise if a woman is menstruating in the interval between Tawaaf and Sa‘y she would have no access to performing Sa‘y. If a woman is menstruating after performing Tawaaf and before performing Sa‘y, she can perform Sa‘y as the place of Sa‘y is not considered part of the mosque.
As for the prayer greeting the mosque, if a person performs Sa‘y after Tawaaf, then returns to the mosque, he should pray it and if he did not it is alright. However, it is better to seize the chance and pray two Rak‘ahs as praying there has a great virtue."
Allaah Knows best.
