She performed Tawaaf Al-Ifaadhah while having menstruation

Question

I performed Hajj and started menstruating, but I felt shy to tell any one and I entered the Holy Mosque, prayed and performed Tawaaf and Sa‘y. What should I do, taking into consideration that I had it after having post-partum bleeding?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen may Allaah have mercy upon him said: "It is unlawful for a woman who has menstruation or post-partum bleeding to pray whether in Makkah or in her homeland or in any other place. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, asked: “Does she not abandon prayer and fasting when she has menstruation?...” Muslims agreed on the fact that a woman who has menstruation or post-partum bleeding is not allowed to pray or fast. This woman should repent and ask for the forgiveness of Allaah The Almighty. Performing Tawaaf while having menstruation is invalid, but her Sa‘y is valid as the preponderant opinion states that it is permissible to perform Sa‘y before Tawaaf when performing Hajj. Thus, this woman should perform Tawaaf again because Tawaaf Al-Ifaadhah is one of the pillars of Hajj and the second stage of ending the state of Ihraam cannot be done without performing it. If this woman is married, her husband cannot have sexual intercourse with her until she performs Tawaaf; and if she is unmarried, her marriage contract may not be concluded until she has performed that Tawaaf."

Allaah Knows best.
