Question
Assalamu Alaikum My house is a two floor building. We recite Quran everyday including Al Baqara, Ayatul qursi, mulk etc. We make salaah including nafl as well. My house is located in a big compound that the other houses are far from our home. Now, my question is that: One day my mother was working in kitchen and she heard recitation of Quran from the top floor by a small girl which lasted only for 50 seconds or so. But we all thought that my mother may be simply thought like she heard the voice. No one was in the top floor as well. After 3 weeks this same voice(quran recitation) which lasted for around 1 minute was heard from the same floor, but this time my sister and mother heard it together. So we confirmed it. wot is this? Is it khair or sharr?. Is this zihr? pls explain. Barakallahu feekum!!
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
We cannot say anything with certainty about this matter. At any rate, there are indeed some jinn that are pious and some that are not, as stated in Soorah Al-Jinn; please refer to Fatwa 88678.
We hope that what you heard is a good sign, as your recitation of the Quran and praying the obligatory and supererogatory prayers at home is good and righteous.
However, it is better for men to pray the obligatory prayers in the Masjid, and some scholars are of the view that this is an obligation. This is the strongest opinion in our view at Islamweb. For more benefit, kindly refer to Fatwa 82264.
