Fatwa CenterNumbers of Ahaadeeth narrated by Imaam Abu Haneefah
Question
Assalamualaikum, How many hadeeths which have been narrated by Imam Abu Haneefah are reported in the six books of hadeeth (Sahih Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, Nasai & Ibne Majah)? It would be very much helpful if the hadeeth reference numbers are also mentioned.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
Imaam Abu Haneefah 
is one of the competent Hadeeth scholars who were eligible for practicing Ijtihaad.
As for the Ahaadeeth and reports he had narrated in Hadeeth books, you can search for them in the academic encyclopedia like Shamela and others.
However, it should be noted that the fact that he narrated few Ahaadeeth and reports [presented] in the six books of authentic Prophetic narrations (i.e. Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim, Sunan At-Tirmithi, Sunnan Abu Daawood, Sunnn An-Nasaa'i, and Sunan Ibn Maajah) does not undermine his refined status as a leading Hadeeth scholar. Please, refer to “Makaanat Al-Imaam Abu Haneefah fi Al-Hadeeth” by Shaykh Muhammad ‘Abd Ar-Rasheed An-Nu‘maani as he cited the words of other Hadeeth scholars in praise of Abu Haneefah .
