Dear Brother/sister, assalaamu alaykum. If a mother is angry and tells her son, "Go away, you do not have a mother anymore;" how wrong is this kind of expression according to Islam?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
This expression does not have a specific ruling in Islam as it does not mean that the mother is denying that he is her son; rather, it is just an expression of anger from the mother who was fed up with him. It is more appropriate for the mother to use good words and good meanings and control herself when angry.
Abu Hurayrah narrated that a man asked the Prophet “Please, advise me!” The Prophet said, “Do not become angry.” The man asked the same question over and over again, and the Prophet gave the same answer, “Do not become angry.” [Al-Bukhari]
Ibn Rajab said, “This indicates that anger is the source of all evil and that avoiding anger is the source of all goodness.”
Allaah knows best.
