Question
I have a colleague who was a Christian. She converted to Islam more than a year ago. She prays and reads the Quran. She fears that her family might harm her if they find out she has become a Muslim. She does not want to declare her Islam for fear of harm— at least for the time being. Please advise.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
If she fears that her family might harm her, she may conceal her becoming a Muslim, but it is better to inform the concerned authorities to protect her.
