Question
What is the Sharee‘ah ruling on the water splashed while one is cleansing himself after urination?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
The preponderant opinion is that the water splashed while one is cleansing himself after urination is pure since it is mostly poured over the excretory organ after cessation of urine. In this case, the pure water is the dominant and the little trace of urine is ineffective. That is because water is pure and purifying unless it is polluted with something which changes its color, taste or smell.
Regarding such matters, a Muslim should act according to certainty as well as strong assumption and avoid whispers and obsessions which bring nothing good.
