I live in a city in Honduras wherein there is only one open musalaat ( place to pray, but the Emaam constantly ask me for sadaqat every Friday non stop , and if I did not give his actitud changed I fear for my life and also I fear to say something wrong that create fitnah so I decide not to attend : I am waiting to do hijarh to Morroco soon so I just want to know if I am ok no to attend to the masjid in the mean time
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Know that Jumu‘ah prayer is unanimously obligatory upon those who meet its conditions. Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr said in al-Istidhkar:
“The scholars of the Ummah unanimously agreed that Jumu‘ah is obligatory upon every free, adult male who is present when the sun reaches its zenith in any of the towns, and who is among the inhabitants of that town and is not a traveler.” [End quote].
Therefore, the scholars have stated that it is not permissible to refrain from attending Jumu‘ah except due to a valid excuse, such as illness, fear, or the like. Al-Bahuti said in al-Rawd al-Murbi‘: “A sick person is excused for missing Jumu‘ah and congregational prayer…” until he said: “Or if he fears harm to himself…” [End quote].
Accordingly, if you genuinely fear for your life by attending Jumu‘ah, then you are excused and it is permissible for you to miss it. However, if your fear is not genuine, but rather you merely imagine that your life is in danger because the imam is asking you to make donations, or if you yourself are the one causing discord in the mosque, then you are not excused in that case for missing Jumu‘ah. Rather, you must attend it and keep away from anything that causes discord in the mosque or elsewhere.
Allah Knows best.
