Assalam-o-alaikum, Ever since I started to pray regularly in congregation I felt drops of urine falling on my clothes during the prayers. First, I ignored it. Then I went to a doctor and he said that my prostate muscles had expanded and prescribed a few drugs for me. Now, since it's known that I have the disease and drops may fall, I want to ask what should I do in order to preserve my Wudu and keep my clothes clean. Also does this mean that I can't pray since my Wudu will be broken everytime a drop falls? What should I do in this situation? Please advise me of the best course of action. Jazakallah.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Allaah Says (what means): {Allaah does not intend to make difficulty for you.}[Quran 5:6]. Allaah also Says (what means): {Allaah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship.}[Quran 2:185]. Allaah further Says (what means): {And Allaah wants to lighten for you [your difficulties].}[Quran 4:28].
Since you are afflicted with this disease –may Allaah cure you –then Allaah permits for you to perform ablution for each obligatory prayer after its time begins and do not worry about the drops of urine which you may have as this does not nullify your ablution. After the obligatory prayer, you may perform as many supererogatory prayers as you wish, and when the time of the second obligatory prayer comes, you should renew ablution again.
As for the urine that may stain your clothes, then you should properly wash your private parts and put a cloth around them and then do not worry if your clothes are stained as this does not affect your purity.
When the time of another obligatory prayer begins, you should wash the part of your clothes which is stained with urine, perform ablution and the prayer.
This is the view of some scholars .
However, if you face difficulty in changing your clothes or washing what is stained with urine, then you should only renew your ablution after the time of each obligatory prayer begins. Allaah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity.
Allaah Knows best.
