I am a Muslim, 27 years old, and I live in an Islamic country, U.A.E. (Dubai). I work for a multinational in the sales team. I've been working in this company for the last six years. Recently I have discovered the importance of Islam for the good of my life in this world and hereafter. So now I am trying to follow Islam the way it is supposed to be, with the Qur'an and the Hadeeth. The problem is due to this sudden change in all the aspects of my life it has become really hard for everybody to accept it, and I don’t completely blame them, because I was lost before (May Allah forgive me, Aameen). Now I’m proud to say that I am a Muslim, earlier I was a Muslim is "name". In order to follow the Sunnah and be a complete Muslim, I have grown a beard...its not yet very long but it is getting there...and my managers (though Muslims, Lebanese/Syrian) are pestering me a lot, to trim the beard. Now according to our beloved Prophet Mohammed SAWS, a Muslim man should leave his beard (grow), and trim his moustache. I’m in a real dilemma, sometimes I think that I really don’t care about the consequences. "I will not trim my beard", and then sometimes I consider trimming it (totally against my will, for the sake of my job). I really don’t want anything to come in the way of Allah, and me this time. But I know that Allah has advised us to always take help from Muftis. Can you please help me, out? What shall I do? Will Allah forgive me if I trim my beard (not shave)? Shall I do the Istekhara as well?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
My dear brother, we all greet you for your adhering to Shariah. No doubt, Allah has chosen you among millions of people for his blessings. This is a very great grace of Allah upon you. Do not become concerned about the difficulties you mentioned in your question. Actually, Allah always examines His chosen slaves by many trials, and who holds Islam in good and bad, in happy and grief, Allah will reward him in both lives. My dear brother, be patient, fear Allah, Allah Says (Interpretation of meaning): " {And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him. He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty and He will provide him from (Sources), he never could imagine} [65:2-3].
