Question
I have a sister who performs her prayers. I have some problems with her; first of all she does not respect me and second she listens to music despite of my advice to leave it because it's Haram. The most important problem is that she does not wear Hijab and she does not accept any conversation about this matter. That's why I have not spoken to her for 3 days. So what can I do?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
We ask Allah to guide your sister and make her steadfast on God-fearing path.
Know it is your sister's right upon you to advise her, guide her till she returns to the right path. The best way for doing it is being kind and gentle with her, in words and actions. Try different means that may useful in her guidance. Exhort her, warning of the dangers, bad consequences, and the punishment of evil in both lives, in this life and the next life. At the same time you should arouse her interest in the forgiveness of Allah and acceptance of repentance. Tell her that Allah will convert all her bad deeds into good deeds if she makes sincere repentance. You may present her with Islamic pamphlets and Islamic recordings on the related subjects. If she makes repentance and adheres to the right path, that is what we wish for her; otherwise, you may stop talking to her for more than three days to make her aware of her bad deeds.
