Question
My question is about my name. It is Wiqas. I have heard that the name wiqas (or waqqas in sa'd bin abi waqqas) is not allowed as it is a kafir name. I have been told that it should be Waqar. Is this true? if so what should i do?

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
As a rule, all names are legal except those are prohibited or disliked due to some meaning. Furthermore, not all names that were used before Islam are to be avoided by Muslims. For sure, most old names are accepted by Islam. So, we find no cause to prevent you from having this name "Wiqas", i.e. it is normal and you are not forced to change it.
