The Hadith 'you and property are your fathers' is the ownership Permanent or Temporary
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The Prophet said to the man who complained to him about his father who took possession of his property: "You and your wealth belong to your father.”
The scholars of Islam are not agreed on the meaning of this Hadeeth. Some think that the father owns his son's belonging without any constraints. So, for them the ownership is permanent.
Others believe that it is only for lawfulness; hence temporary. So, it is lawful for the father to take from his son's property what he needs. This last opinion is the most correct one as the child has the right to do whatever he wants with his own property without the permission or consent of his father. The child also should give the Zakaah of his money and if he dies it is inherited from him.
But anyway, it is lawful for the father who is needy or has a needy family to take from his son's property what he needs even if the child objects to that.
