Question
In Islam can a Muslimah wear contact lenses of colour other than her own eye colour?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. There is no harm to use the colored contact lenses provided they do not cause any harm to the eyes and do not lead to extravagance or waste of money. We say so because some of the contact lenses may be expensive while there is no genuine need for that. Furthermore, using contact lenses to cheat the fiancé like making him believe that she has good eye appearance while she is not so, or she has attractive eyes while they are the opposite, in this case, using them is not allowed. But wearing them to beautify oneself for one's husband or just in one's house without lavishness is lawful. Allah knows best.
