Question
I heard that one is not allowed to remove his private hair using a razor. Is that true?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Removing pubes with razor is permissible but using a bare blade to shave the hair is likeable since it removes the hair totally. However, using any other harmless means through which the goal (removing hair) is obtained is permissible.
Imam al-Nawawi said: ‘It is better to use a sharp razor to follow this Sunnah since it removes hair better than any other thing. However, the Sunnah could be achieved by using a scissor or by pulling out the hair using any hair remover product since the purpose is to achieve cleanliness’.
