Fatwa CenterHaving problems with her husband who discusses her previous marriage
Question
I am divorced woman, married to a divorced man who has a daughter from his previous marriage. I married on the common ground that we were both divorced hence no confliction would take place. Recently he has been bringing up my last marriage in relation to intimacy which seems to be putting a lot of distance between us. He has started to part himself in bed too. What do I do?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
First we ask Allaah to reconcile you and your husband, grant you happiness and enable you to perform acts of obedience to Him. We advise you to be patient and perform acts that make your husband love you, and to hasten to do things that please him, like beautifying yourself, obeying him, saying good words to him (speaking with him in a soft and gentle manner), and avoid acts which he dislikes. You should also supplicate to Allaah as much as possible to make him righteous and to reconcile your differences.
