Question
I would just like to know if I must tell a suitor (for engagement) if I was engaged previously or had done Katb Iktab? Nothing happened physically, Al-Hamdulillaah, just Katb Iktab?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
You did not mention whether or not you are still married to your previous husband. Hence, there are two possibilities:
First, this marriage has been cancelled by divorce or the like. In this case you are not obliged to inform the one who is interested in marrying you about your previous marriage.
Second, your first marriage is still valid, then you are not allowed to marry another person until you finish this marriage. If you finish this marriage then you may get married immediately because there is no waiting period for the woman who is divorced before consummating the marriage.
