We belong to Pashtun Tribe of Pakistan. We are 3 brothers, I'm the middle one. My elder brother married in 1997. I got married in 2002. His (elder brother) wife remained hostile to my wife from the very beginning. Because she thinks she is senior to my wife. Then she started false allegations on my wife. She (my brother's wife) started working against the interests of my wife. Then one day after almost 3 years I had to leave my home and had to live independently.
Reason I don't want to make the life of my parents miserable as they were involved in making things on right path everyday.
I had obeyed my parents very much in the past and never had thought of being separated on such minor issues. But due to the very bad behaviour of my brother and his wife I had to leave home especially my parents. Its a long story but I had summarized it for your convenience.
My question is;
- How much sinful I am to my parents as according to Islam. As they have big rights. My intentions are good. What should I do on my part to make things on right path?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
There is no harm on you for dwelling in an independent accommodation because of the reasons you have mentioned, especially since you have done so in order to achieve peace and tranquillity for your parents. So we hope that you will be rewarded for this. However, we remind you to be kind and dutiful to your parents and keep ties of kinship. These problems [that you have mentioned in your question] should not be a reason for you to cut relations with your brother, as cutting relations with kinship is one of the greatest major sins. Allaah Says (which means): {Would you then, if you if you were given the authority, do mischief in the land, and sever your ties of kinship? Such are they whom Allaah has cursed, so He make them deaf and blinded their sight.}[Quran 47: 22-23].
Allaah Knows best.
