In Ayah 61 of Surah Najm, what exactly does 'Saamidoon' mean? Also, please quote some Hadeeth (if available) is referring to 'Saamidoon' of this Ayah.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Allaah Says (which means): {Do you then wonder at this recitation (the Quran). And you laugh at it and weep not. Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing etc.).}[Quran 53:59-61]. The last part of the verse means amusement, turning away from [the truth] and being careless and heedless. The word in Arabic means amusement, play, pride and turning away and refusing to accept the truth. In the language of Himyar [an Arab tribe], it means singing. Imaam At-Tabari interpreted the above verses to mean: 'do you then wonder from this Quran because it was revealed to the Prophet and you laugh at it and mock it, and you do not cry fearing the threat that is mentioned with regard to the disobedient people, and you play and amuse yourselves, turning away from [the truth] and are being careless and heedless about what you are ordained to do in it.'
