Question
Does renewing marriage contract because not naming the bride's name needs Iddah monthly menstrual or not? And tell me how to do it and what to do after it, do I need to tell people about it or not. You said in your Fatwa if she is known before the contract no harm for not saying her name, tell me if I wanted to renew it in four months just to be safe how to do it and tell me in details please if I need to publicized or not?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The matter is as we mentioned in Fatwa 90503, that it is a condition for the validity of the marriage contract that the bride is known but it is not a condition to mention her name in the contract. If something that distinguishes her is mentioned or that she is the only daughter of her father, and anything that removes the ambiguity is mentioned, then the marriage contract is valid. Therefore, there is no need to renew the contract or doubt its validity. If this is the case, we advise you to continue your marital life with your wife as usual and neglect all these whispers and thoughts.
