UN rights boss urges intervention over Myanmar

There is intensifying international pressure on Myanmar over the violent repression of Rohingya. The United Nations and the US government hold the military responsible and are calling for stringent measures to deal with the crisis.

Tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees have been arriving in bordering Bangladesh daily after Myanmar's atrocious military crackdown led to a major hunger crisis.

Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, a UN rights chief, told Al Jazeera that the international community must intervene if Myanmar's perpetrators are not punished for what has been called "crimes against humanity".
