All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
If this is a tradition which people commonly practice during marriage, and it is not something peculiar to women in their society, and it does not involve any wrong beliefs, then it is permissible to do it. That is because in principle all traditions are permissible and it is only with evidence that a tradition can be forbidden.
The Prophet said: “The lawful is what Allaah made lawful in His Book, and the forbidden is what Allaah forbade in His Book, and whatever Allaah kept silent about is among the things that Allaah has forgiven.”
