All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
The time of slaughtering the Udh-hiyah starts once the 'Eid prayer and the two Khutbahs (sermons) are over, according to Shaafi‘i scholars, or when the 'Eid prayer is over, according to the Hanbali scholars. According to the Maaliki scholars, it starts at the time when the Imam (the Muslim ruler) slaughters his Udh-hiyah. What counts in this respect is the country in which the Udh-hiyah giver lives. The time at which the pilgrims start to slaughter their sacrificial animals has nothing to do with the beginning of the time of slaughtering the Udh-hiyah by those who are not performing Hajj. When the time of slaughtering the Udh-hiyah starts in the country wherein the Udh-hiyah giver lives, it becomes permissible for him to slaughter his Udh-hiyah.
Allaah Knows best.
