School dinner for a Muslim child in UK

Question:

Assalamualaikum,I'm in uk and my sun asking me to put him in school dinner also school says they are providing only halal but they are non muslim Is it permissioble to eat in there?(School:Kingssbury Green Primery School,Old Kenton Lane,London NW9 9ND

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

 

In principle, the meat of animals slaughtered by the People of the Book is lawful as Allaah Says (what means): {…and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them.}[Quran 5:5] Therefore, if someone is not absolutely certain or does not predominantly think that any of their food is unlawful, like pork, or that it is not slaughtered according to the Islamic rites, then it is lawful to eat it. This is provided that it is not well-known from these people that they do not avoid this kind of meat, because if it is well-known from them that they do not slaughter according to Islamic rites, like if they electrocute the animal, or hit it on the head with a blunt object or drown it in water, then in principle it is not permissible to eat their meat. So, this rule cannot be overruled except with a certainty, or if one predominantly thinks so.
