An employee using his company's computer and Internet to learn computer science

Question:

Assalamu Alaykum Sheikh, Sheikh, Is it Harram if I learn from the internet by downloading some free programs like how to assemble PC, install windows, networking, programming etc and I am using Company's Computer & internet when I finish my duty or I am free. Then I get a job and I become computer technician; will my salary be Harram. My second question is. is it OK if I read holy quran & blow on my hand then wipe on my body without ablution or Wudhuu. Thank You Sheikh

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

 

There is no harm in your learning through the Internet by downloading free programs, but using the computer and the internet of the company is not permissible if done without permission of the employer or his deputy. For further information, see Fatwa 90000.

However, if you get a job because of what you have learnt, the salary for this work will not be prohibited as long as the work is lawful and you do the duties required from you.

As regards reading the Quran without ablution and blowing into your hands and wiping your body with them, this is permissible as long as you read without touching the Mus-haf. For further information, see Fataawa 86206 and 83992.
