All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
It is permissible to do your hair in the style that you mentioned as long as by doing so, you do not show your hair to non-Mahram men. In principle, all things are permissible unless there is evidence to prove that they are forbidden. We do not know a religious evidence that proves that it is forbidden to style your hair in the way you mentioned; for more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 92595.
What is mentioned to you that this hair style would bring you bad luck or that it has a relation with magic and evil, is nothing but a superstition, and it is forbidden to spread it. Spreading such superstitions affects one’s faith and decreases his/her trust and relying on Allaah. It is only Allaah who benefits and harms; Allaah Says (what means): {And if Allaah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.}[Quran 10:107]
Moreover, Ibn ‘Abbaas narrated that the Prophet said: "Know that if the Nation (or the whole community) gathered together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you with anything except that which Allaah has destined for you; and if they gathered together to harm you with something, they would not harm you with anything except that which Allaah has destined against you. The pens have been lifted (i.e. stopped writing) and the sheets have dried” (i.e. everything has already been predestined by Allaah)." [At-Tirmithi]
