All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
There is nothing wrong with using the broken vessels or wearing torn clothes so long as that does not lead to anything that is forbidden in Islam such as if someone fears harm because of using such broken vessels or if any of his 'Awrah (parts of the body that must be covered in Islam) may be disclosed because of wearing the torn clothes.
It is worth mentioning here that if Allaah The Almighty has bestowed a blessing on His servant, then one should let the effects of that blessing appear on him. One should not neglect that due to miserliness or hiding the Blessing of Allaah The Almighty. At-Tirmithi narrated from ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb from his father that his grandfather ('Abdullaah ibn 'Amr ibn Al-'Aas) said: "The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: 'Allaah loves to see the effects of His blessing on His slave.'"
It is also reported that ‘Umar said: "If Allaah makes you wealthier then you should act wealthier."
Allaah Knows best.
