All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
This Hadeeth is weak (Dha'eef). Al-‘Uqayli said in his book Adh-Dhu‘afaa’ after citing the Hadeeth: “This Hadeeth has no basis and was not passed down through any reliable chain of transmission except as a Mursal Hadeeth (a Hadeeth narrated by a Tabi’i [successor of the Prophet’s Companions]) in Maghaazi Al-Waaqidi and others."
Al-Bayhaqi said in his book Dalaa’il An-Nubuwwah, 'Al-Hasan ibn Saahib said: "This Hadeeth was reported on my authority through Abu Haatim Ar-Raazi." It was also reported by Muhammad ibn Zakariyya Al-Ghallaabi who is considered Matrook (rejected) from Shu‘ayb ibn Waaqid who narrated it on the authority of Abaan ibn ‘Abdullaah Al-Bajali .'”
He also said, “It was narrated by another unknown chain of narrators through Ubaan ibn Taghlib.”
Al-Albaani labeled it as weak in his book As-Silsilah Adh-Dha‘eefah, no. 6457.
Allaah Knows best.
