Question:

While performing Tawaf, if the time for Farz namaz comes in between, what we have to do?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

If someone starts the Tawaaf or Sa‘y and then the Iqaamah (call for prayer) is called before he completes it, he should discontinue his Tawaaf or Sa‘y and pray with the congregation; when he finishes the prayer he continues his Tawaaf or Sa‘y from where he left off and he does not start anew. This is the view of the majority of the scholars.

Ibn Qudamah, Allaah have mercy upon him, said in his book Al-Mughni: "If a person is engaged in Tawaaf or Sa‘y and then the Iqaamah for the obligatory prayer is called, he should pray with the congregation according to the view of most scholars, including Ibn 'Umar, Saalim, ‘Ataa’, Ash-Shaafi‘i, Abu Thawr, and the scholars of the Hanafi School. This was also reported from them about Sa‘y." [End of quote]

An-Nawawi may Allaah have mercy upon him said in his book Al-Majmoo': "If the obligatory prayer is held while he is performing Sa‘y, he should discontinue his Sa‘y and pray the obligatory prayer, and then he continues his Sa‘y from where he left off and does not start from the beginning. This is our view and the view of the majority of the scholars among whom is Ibn ‘Umar, his son Saalim, ‘Ataa’, Abu Haneefah and Abu Thawr." [End of quote]

Allaah Knows best.
