All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Allaah has ordained that Muslim women wear the Hijab, and we mentioned the evidence for the obligation of it in Fatwa 84053.
The obligation of Hijab is like all other obligations; it is not permissible to abandon them except in cases of inability to fulfill them or in cases of dire necessity. It is only permissible to enjoy the relaxations of the law in such cases. Allaah says (what means): {…while He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are compelled.} [Quran 6:119]
The relaxations of the law are not made permissible by every degree of harm. The necessity by which the forbidden becomes lawful is defined by the scholars as follows: it is when someone reaches a point where if he does not commit what is forbidden, he dies or nearly dies, or he finds himself in a hardship that is very hard for him to endure.
Therefore, if the hardship that you experience from this pain is unusual, and you have a real necessity to go out for work, then it is permissible for you to remove your Hijab according to the necessity only, because necessities are measured according to their proper measure.
