All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Al-Haarith Al-Faqeeh is Thiqah (trustworthy), an Imaam and a student of Ad-Daaraqutni who transmitted his Sunan. He was also a teacher of Al-Bayhaqi. ‘Abd Al-Ghaafir Al-Faarisi said about him in his book Taareekh Naysaapoor, quoting As-Sareefeeni in his book Al-Muntakhab:
"The Imaam, Abu Bakr At-Tameemi Al-Asbaahaani, the reciter of the Quran, the man of letters, the jurist, the Muhaddith (Hadeeth scholar), the righteous, the ascetic, the pious, the trustworthy, the true Imaam, unrivaled in his time in his way, knowledge and devoutness; no one was known like him.”
As for Abu Muhammad ibn Hayyaan Abu Ash-Shaykh, he was a Haafith and Thabt (unfaltering). Ath-Thahabi said about him, “The Imaam, the Haafith, the truthful, the Muhaddith of Isfahaan, Abu Muhammad ‘Abdullaah ibn Muhammad ibn Ja‘far ibn Hayyaan, who was known as Abu Ash-Shaykh, author of Hadeeth collections.” He then quoted Al-Khateeb Al-Baghdadi as saying about him: “Abu Ash-Shaykh was a Haafith, Thabt and a thorough reporter.” [Siyar A‘laam An-Nubalaa']
As for the third, he is Abu Al-Hareesh Al-Kilaabi. After searching the available literature, we did not find any mention of him by the scholars of Al-Jarh wat-Ta‘deel. Khaalid ibn ‘Abdullaah ibn Muhammad Ash-Shaayi‘ mentioned him in his treatise entitled Al-I‘laam bi-Takhyeer Al-Musalli bi-Makaan wadh‘ Al-Yadayn ba‘d Takbeerat Al-Ihraam (on the optionality of where to place the hands after Takbeer Al-Ihraam), with an introduction by Shaykh Muqbil ibn Haadi Al-Waadi‘i : “The chain of narration includes Abu Al-Hareesh who reported on the authority of Shaybaan; I could not find anything pertaining to his biography after a long search.”
He was referring to the following narration in Al-Bayhaqi's As-Sunan Al-Kubra: “Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Al-Haarith Al-Faqeeh said on the authority of Abu Muhammad ibn Hayyaan Abu Ash-Shaykh, on the authority of Abu Al-Hareesh Al-Kilaabi, on the authority of Shaybaan, on the authority of Hammaad ibn Salamah, on the authority of ‘Aasim Al-Jahdari, on the authority of his father, on the authority of ‘Uqbah ibn Sahbaan: ‘Ali said about this (what means): {So, pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]} [Quran 108:2]: "The placement of his right hand on the middle of the left and then the placement of both of them is on his chest."”
Allaah Knows best.
