All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
After extensive research of the books of Sunnah that we have at hand, we have not come across a text which proves the virtue of these two verses.
Al-Iraaqi said when reviewing the ahaadeeth of Al-Ihyaa:
“Regarding the hadeeth about the virtue of the two verses: {There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves...} [Quran 9:128-129], it was narrated by At-Tabaraani in Ad-Du‘aa from the hadeeth of Anas with a weak chain of narrators. Abul-Qaasim Al-Ghaafiqi mentioned in Fadhaa’il Al-Quran fee Raghaa’ib Al-Quran from ‘Abdul-Malik ibn Habeeb, from the narration of Muhammad ibn Bakkaar, that the Prophet said, ‘Whoever abides by reciting {There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves…} to the end of the Soorah, he will neither die under debris, nor by drowning, nor burning, nor beaten with an iron (weapon).’ And it is a Dha’eef (weak) hadeeth.”
Allah knows best.
