Question:

if you would kindly describe the the two points , I would be grateful. Although it is not question of mine ,I need to know rulings concerning it.1)I need to know if part-time jobs income is halal or not. As I am working full-time for a firm, and after office hours I do some web development jobs for income. Is it permissible to work for other clients, not related to my company?2) Also, I need to know if it is permissible for me to work on my part-time or personal tasking during my office working hours, from my office. As sometimes I need to do some urgent changes and update; but it does not interfere in the office work. So, please, guide me from the Islamic point of view

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

During office Hours, it is not permissible for you to work for your own benefit without the permission of your employer.

The employee is like a privately hired person, and the benefit of his time is owned by his employer during working hours.

Kashshaaf Al-Qinaa’ reads: "The private worker is the one whose benefit is measured by a specific amount of time, and his time is exclusively for the employer during the period of the contract; no one else can benefit from his services (i.e., time) during this period of time." [End of quote]

As for the time outside your working hours, then there is no harm for you to work.

Allah knows best.
