All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad
is His slave and Messenger.
Experiencing a feeling of suffocation when drinking water over which Qur’anic recitation has been performed is not definitive proof of being afflicted by jinn possession. Such a sensation may simply result from psychological disturbances or internal delusions.
In any case, so long as you do not experience any other symptoms, there is no need to dwell on such thoughts or give them undue attention. Rather, you should seek refuge in Allah Most High, increase in His remembrance, and remain consistent with the transmitted supplications for seeking protection, for these safeguard a person from the harm of sorcery, envy, and the like.
Do not judge yourself to be afflicted by any such matter based merely on doubts and illusions, nor open this door upon yourself, for doing so leads to great harm.
Allah knows best.
