Question:

Do I have to draw the Jewish star as a Muslim girl?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam,  is His slave and Messenger.

The Six-pointed star or the Jewish star is a symbol which has a meaning for Masonry and other destructive organizations. If a Muslim wears it as a piece of jewelry out of inclining to its people and love for them, then, he is an apostate. If he does so only for the sake of playing or the like, then, his act is not considered disbelief but it is unlawful. This ruling is similar to the ruling of wearing Zunnaar.

Ad-Dardeer, a Maaliki scholar, said about Az-Zunnaar, “It is a belt with colored threads to be bind around the waist of the Thimmi in order to be distinguished from the Muslim. If a Muslim wears the Zunnaar out of loving it and its people, then, he becomes an apostate. If he wears it in jest then it is unlawful, not disbelief. If drawing the Jewish star  falls under any of these meanings, then, its ruling has been clarified. If it is drawn for the sake of warning others about it, then, this act is permissible.

From this answer, it is clear that the ruling on drawing depends on the intention of the one who draws it. It may be regarded as disbelief or an unlawful act. It may be considered permissible, as pointed out in the last case. However, it is not obligatory for a Muslim to draw it in any case.

Allaah Knows best.
