Question:

Since I live in Japan and where one can hardly find those kind places I was hoping that you could give me some leads for the lawful fields where I can invest my money and get profit without indulging in Haram, could you?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we advise you to fear Allaah and rely on Him. You should seek help in this by performing prayers, giving charity, supplicating, seeking forgiveness and staying away from sins.

You should invest in anything that does not contradict the Sharee'ah. You should know that the livelihood and sustenance are predestined and the person will definitely get his share.

So, you should not hasten to get this livelihood by forbidden means as this leads to deprivation.

The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "A man is deprived of sustenance due to a sin he committed." [Ahmad, Ibn Maajah, Al-Arna'oot and Al-Albaani]

In another Hadeeth the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "No one of you should try to get his livelihood by committing sins because it [sustenance] was delayed; what Allaah has cannot be gotten except by acts of obedience.

Finally, we advise you to the following matters in which you can invest:

You may, for instance, be a representative of some Islamic intitutions outside Japan, so you send to them the goods and they send you the money, or send you some goods that will be beneficial there in Japan. You may also import meat slaughtered according to Islamic rites and you would sell it to the Muslims in Japan, or that you make a slaughter house in order to provide the Muslims with meat slaughtered according to Islamic rites and employ Muslim butchers.

You may also invest in agriculture in many Muslim lands and employ Muslim farmers and equip them with modern equipments that they need. Also, you may invest in fishing, and you may deal with some trustworthy people in Muraabahah or Mudhaarabah.

For more benefit on Muraabahah and Mudhaarabah, please refer to Fataawa 148103, 142781 and 92631.

Allaah Knows best.
