Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. Al-Bukhari reported from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: I was ordered to prostrate on 7 (parts of the body) and not to cuff hair or garment. It should be noted here that the repugnance of this act includes cuffing it during the prayer or just before it. Al-Buhooty said in the explanation of Muntaha al-Iradat: It is also dislikable for him (the praying person) to braid his hair or cuff his garment or tuck it up - even to do some work - before praying. What is meant by cuffing the garment is folding it when bowing down for Ruku' or prostrating for Sujud or tying it up from the middle preventing this garment from touching the soil as this might prevent the person from prostrating. Also, some people do this out of arrogance. So, one should avoid cuffing the garment or braiding the hair when praying. Allah knows best.
