Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
1) Know that giving up prayer is a major sin. Some scholars even consider it an act of Kufr and this opinion is the most preponderant opinion.
The evidence is the Hadith reported by Muslim that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: “Between the person and Kufr or Shirk is his/her giving up prayer”. There are more Ahadith backing this opinion.
So, dear brother, try to save yourself from the wrath of Allah and His punishment in a Day when no wealth or children will be of any help unless the person comes with a heart full of Iman and free of Kufr.
Among the things that could help you do this is staying away from bad company and friends and befriending pious and good people.
Supplicating Allah at the times when Du’a is usually answered. Hasten to make up the prayers you missed as you do not know when you will leave this world and you will be asked first on the Day of Judgement about your prayer.
