Are we living in the time of the last days?

Question:

I have read some Hadith in which it is advised that as doomsday rears good and bad people will mix then one should make his Imaan safer and leave the people on their way. In another Hadith the Prophet told his companion that during such condition they should go to forest and live there even if them have to live by consuming roots! Has this time come?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

It is reported in Saheeh Al Bukhari that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: A time will come upon the people when the best of a Muslim's property will be sheep, which he will take to the tops of mountains and to the places of rain-fall to run away with his religion in order to save it from afflictions.”

Ibn Majah reported in his Sunan that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: “Enjoin good amongst you and forbid evil.  But when you see that stinginess has become so dominant that people abide by it, that people follow their own desires, that they favor worldly things and that everyone has become proud of their own opinion…, then mind your own self.  Indeed, there will come after you days of endurance and patience, in which the one who remains patient is like the one who grabs a firebrand.  The person who does good in them (such days) is given 50 times the reward of another person doing the same deeds (in different days).”

This Hadith, although weak, is supported by the one that preceded it.  Anyway, it is a clear evidence that there will be a lot of trials and temptations and that the Muslim should avoid being dragged to such filthy things.

No doubt that this present time is full of temptations and no doubt also that the bad people are now raising their heads high in some countries.  They even obliged some of the Muslims to abide by their vicious ways and to copy them.

However, there are still some good people everywhere.  They can always be supportive to anyone who seeks good.  There are also still some people who would listen to anyone who calls them to Islam.  So, the time the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) told us about has not yet come.  But the Muslim should adhere to Islam fully and completely (especially one’s self and one’s family) and spare no effort to propagate the right Islam.

Allah knows best.
