All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
In principle no one knows when, where or how he will die as this is a matter of the unseen which only Allaah knows. Allaah says (which means): {And no person knows in what land he will die.}[31:34]. However, Allaah may reveal something that is from the matters of the unseen to some of His servants as a way of testing them, but this does not mean that these servants are pious or Awliyaa' (who love Allaah and whom Allaah loves). Seeing something that is from the unseen is something that could happen to an ordinary person and not to a pious one. Allaah looks to our steadfastness on His Path and does not look to super ordinary matters that may happen to someone.
A person might feel the approach of his death but this does not apply to everybody. Some people might feel that they are going to die soon and inform the others about it but nothing happens. Rulings and principles are not taken from dreams.
Finally, it should be noted that it is an obligation not to exaggerate regarding people to whom super ordinary matters happen. To believe, for instance, that these people are able to do what only Allaah can do, like answering the supplication, offering help, repelling the harm, and the like are amongst such prohibited exaggeration.
Allaah knows best.
