All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The Four Schools of jurisprudence agreed that it is forbidden to travel on Friday after the time of the Friday prayer begins. As regards travelling before the time of the Friday prayer begins, some scholars are of the view that it is permissible, others are of the view that it is disliked, yet others are of the view that it is forbidden.
However, there is no doubt that it is better for a Muslim to delay his travel until after praying the Friday prayer in order to avoid the difference of opinion, unless there is a dire need to travel before the Friday prayer, in which case we hope that it is permissible to travel on the condition that one travels before the starting time of the Friday prayer.
Finally, it should be noted that the abovementioned agreement of the four schools, applies only if the person is not in an unavoidable need to travel at that time, because if he is really in an unavoidable necessity to travel, then this is permissible as Allaah Says (what means): {…while He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are compelled.}[Quran 6:119].
Allaah Knows best.
