Regime attacks kill 10 in Syria, activists say

At least 10 people were killed in air and ground operations carried out by President Bashar al-Assad's regime across Syria, opposition activists have claimed.

Women and children were among many people wounded in the attack by regime helicopters, which bombed opposition-controlled areas in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, according to a statement by the Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCC).

The badly wounded were taken to hospitals in Turkey.

“The regime forces have been shelling the opposition-controlled areas with helicopters and fighter jets since morning," said local activists.

More than 100,000 people have been killed during the three-year brutal crackdown, which has also internally displaced more than 6.5 million people, according to the UN.

More than two million people are now registered as refugees in neighboring Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq.
