My friend is Ahmadi. He wants to select correct religion as he is in doubt. He wants to do Istikhaara for this matter. Is this right?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Istikhaara prayer is legislated for a Muslim when he is faced with a permissible matter and he does not know whether it is good for him so that he would proceed with it, or it is bad for him so that he would ask Allaah to remove it away from him. There is no Istikhaara prayer about an obligatory or desirable act, and it is not performed about committing a forbidden act or a dislikeable one. Therefore, you know that your friend has to abandon Qaadyaniya and embrace Islam without praying Istikhaara, as there is no Istikhaara prayer to perform in order to abandon disbelief and embrace Islam. The people who know the reality of Qaadyaniya, know that they are upon a disbelief that is out of the fold of Islam and that they are astray. We advise the brother asking the question to call his friend to Islam and clarify to him that Islam is the religion of the Truth and that Allaah does not accept any religion other than Islam. Allaah says: (interpretation of the meaning): {And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.}[3:85]. Allaah also says (interpretation of meaning): {Truly, the religion with Allaah is Islam……}[3:19].
Allaah knows best.
